#C0074 Exceptional 2-Piece Victorian Bustle Dress – Circa 1870 – Museum Quality!

This delightful summer weight antique Victorian dress in rosy coral or salmon colored silk dates to approximately 1874.  It may have been a wedding dress or a "first day" dress.  It is certainly exceptional and meant enough to someone so long ago that it was stored away and kept safe.

It features a trained bustle skirt from the first bustle period and a peplum style bodice with a "V" neckline, embellished with self-fabric ruching.

The bodice is stayed and lined, and closes at the front with 7 self- fabric buttons.  Inside, a panel fastens in the front with 5 hooks and eyes, one hook is missing.  The back of the bodice is softly pleated and adorned with a self-fabric bow.  The dropped armscyes are piped and the ¾ length sleeves are trimmed with ruching.

The skirt is accented with matching self-fabric bows down the center back.  One matching bow decorates the center front of the skirt.  The ruching at the hem matches the ruching on the bodice.  The back waistband closes with hook & eye.  There is a slit side pocket.

Approximate Measurements:

Bust:                 32"

Waist:               23"

Length: 54" length (shoulder to front hemline)

Due to the age and fragile nature of this antique dress, measurements are given only for informational purposes.  We do not recommend wearing a dress of this age.

In marvelously good, clean, sound condition with a few small scattered age flaws that include wear to the waistband and hem, a few small straight mends above the train'shemline, some surface abrasion and wear around a few buttonholes, a few pin dot to ¼”  age spots, a resewn button, a few small barely noticeable moisture lines, and some very light spots on the train.

This antique dress is most definitely an exceptional treat.  The color is bright and uncommon.  It is definitely a museum quality antique gown.

Imagine this dress in your collection of 19th century Victorian clothing or displayed (away from direct sunlight, of course!) to decorate a romantic room in your home!

Jewelry shown in photo available separately.  Bustle cage is not included with this dress, but is also available separately.
