Here is a wonderfully wearable vintage flapper dress, straight out of the Roaring 20s!
Made of watered silk with a deep scoop neckline, both front and back, and a flirty asymmetrical hemline you can dress it up with flapper beads or add deco dress clips at the shoulders and a big, glitzy rhinestone brooch at the hip! At the right hip is a gathered strip of fabric and at the left hip are two triangular shaped “handkerchiefs” that drape loosely. It fastens up the left side with seven snaps.
There are a few scattered pin holes. The large piece of gathered fabric at the right hip has either come loose or has been re-attached by some previous owner. It is very sturdy, but you might want to reattach it or add a beaded medallion or pin of some kind there. There is a hole about the size of a dime in this gathered piece, as well. There are three (one is very small) stress marks under the right armhole and a small one under the left armhole, not terribly noticeable. Under the bottom “handkerchief” at the left side is a large water stain, about 4 ½” in diameter. It is totally hidden underneath the “handkerchief” and is I very difficult to find. I was also unable to get it to show in photos. There are scattered catches throughout. None of the flaws are terribly distracting.
All in all, this is one vintage flapper dress that I would not hesitate to wear, with due caution in respect of its age. It is strong and freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear!
