Imagine floating down the red carpet in this fabulous vintage chiffon evening gown that dates to circa 1935.
It features a flattering bustline, gathers at the shoulders where loose, flowing streamers fall gracefully free or tied loosely at the back. The spaghetti straps of the underdress attach at the shoulder of the dress with snaps to keep the look together, a common feature of dresses of this time period. The underdress, or slip, has no closures, while the outer dress has a left side metal zipper.
This lovely dress is in good strong, wearable condition with the only flaws being a tiny hole in the underdress (see photo) under an arm that isn’t readily apparent and the seam at the shoulder is slightly loose. There is a torn piece, about 3" long at the edge of the hem, an easy repair.
We've shown this dress on our mannequin, "T.C.", who is much more slim than the dress form. She shows the drape of the dress better than the dress form.
Shown on dress form set at:
Bust: 38"
Waist: 29"
Hips: 38"
Shoulder to Hem: 57"
I could guess would fit a current size 10/12.
Label: The Vogue, Charleston, W. Virginia
Shown with a wonderful, glittery rhinestone necklace, and great cloche hat (each sold separately) this makes a total outfit! |
