Stunning Mexican boulder opals are the centerpieces of these two pieces of superb vintage Mexican sterling silver jewelry. Both the ring and the pendant have a matching design motif and each has a
bezel set boulder opal. On the ring, the fire is in the center of the stone - brilliant green and red for the most part. The stone in the pendant has a strip through the center where multiple brilliant colors – from green, to teal, purple, red, and orange are seen deep into the stone. The fire of both pieces is really beautiful, especially the pendant which appears almost as if one could actually enter the stone in the river of colors.
The ring is about a size 7 ½ and the design motif is 1 ¼” long and ¾” wide. The pendant measures 1 3/8” long and ¾” wide.
The ring is signed HEC MEX and the pendant is signed JOYMEX PLATA in a circle with 925 in the center. What little information I can find about this mark indicates that these may have been made pre-1948.
There is a chain with the pendant marked Sterling Speidel. This is not original to the pendant, but will be included.
Both pieces are in excellent condition, with the exception of the back (only) of the pendant where I polished it because there is some residue from what appears to have been some type of adhesive label that was once applied.
