This beautiful, lustrous black vintage jacket is a cross between a bomber style and a bolero and, dates to the 40s or possibly 50s.
The appearance of the outer fabric is that of black Persian lamb wool, but is most likely a combination of mohair and wool. I found several newspaper ads for the Alaskan Kurl Deluxe Fabric dating from 1930 through the 50s where it was described as this.
This is a fairly heavy jacket, probably enough that it could be considered outerwear.
The jacket is fully lined, has padded shoulders, and features a short, cropped waist with a 2 ¼” elasticized waistband. The center front closure is made with large wrapped hooks and eyes. The neckline is decorated with a small band of ruching.
Label reads: Alaskan Kurl Reg.Appl Deluxe Fabric
A second label is the Coat and Suit Industry National Recovery Board label
In very good condition. The only flaw is that the elastic, which is still stretchy, in the waistband seems loose, most notably where it fastens in the front.
