Victorian Original Period Antique Cage Crinoline
This is a very nice example of an original mid-19th century Victorian cage crinoline (also called a hoop skirt by some) with an interesting feature.
All the tapes are in very good condition but where they attach to the waistband, muslin extensions have been added. There is also an added muslin extension on the waistband. All appear to be period alterations. On the inside of the waistband are some handwritten notations – illegible, to me.
Length of the waistband: 30”
Diameter of the largest hoop: 19”
Overall length of cage when worn: 32 ½”
All in all, this is a very fine and sturdy period cage crinoline with minimal rust, and strong tapes, with the above noted extensions, and fully intact bands.
